The truth and myths about cosmetics for hair 5 5 3

Cosmetic
means have become so firmly in our everyday life that we often forget
that behind them there is a lot of scientific research. Choosing a new shampoo, we would rather seek advice from a friend with well-groomed hair than to scientific sources. Let's see how shampoos and hair conditioners work.
What is hair?
Our hair consists of proteins, mainly keratin, water, and also oils, which provide the hair with softness.
The outer part of the hair is called the cuticle. It is formed by several (from five to ten) layers of keratin overlapping each other. These
layers, like the roof shingles, protect the cortex - the middle layer
of the hair, consisting of dead cells that give the hair strength and
elasticity. The third layer is the core of the hair, or the medulla. It is filled with air and soft keratin and there is not in every hair.
If the scales of the cuticle fit tightly to each other, the hair is smooth and shiny. In the process of combing and washing hair, these scales rise. Because of this, the hair is shattered, it is easier to break and split at the tips.
How do shampoos work?
The composition of shampoos includes special compounds - surface active substances (surfactants). Molecules
of surfactants are arranged in such a way that one of their ends
attracts water, while the other pushes and attracts oils. This
second end of the molecule in the washing process is attached to the
fat particles in our hair, so the water, washing the shampoo, flushes
and all the accumulated dirt in the hair.
One of the most common types of surfactants is sulfates. Now many people think that sulfates work too aggressively, washing off their natural protection from the hair. Because of this, the sebaceous glands begin to work more actively, trying to fill the loss of sebum, and the hair becomes fat.
5 tips to wash your hair properly
Well, stop using shampoo completely?
Should I give up shampoos?
All individually. But that excitement, which now arose because of sulphates in shampoos - just inflating panic. Sulfates are not toxic and certainly do not cause cancer.
Experts believe that it is senseless to completely abandon shampoos.
Surface
active substances used in them, clean the cuticle of the hair from
grease and dirt, but do not penetrate the inside of the hair. With frequent use, some shampoos can cause itchy scalp or dry hair. In that case, try switching to a softer shampoo.
Recently, due to criticism of sulfate shampoos, cleansing conditioners have become popular. This means 2 in 1, combining the function of purification with moisturizing, which gives us a conventional conditioner. They were created for those who often wash their hair and seek a softer remedy.
Should I buy cleaning air conditioners? Here again everything is individual. Someone they fit, and someone filed a class action lawsuit against manufacturers, complaining about hair loss and allergies.

Shampoos for colored hair
Purple shampoo is for lightened hair. It really works: the purple pigment in this shampoo neutralizes yellowness.
But the rest of the means for colored hair does not give much effect.
Painted hair changes color over time, because the chemical reaction during staining is uneven. Some
molecules of the coloring material are larger, others smaller, some are
washed away, some remain on the hair, so over time, the color fades. Most of the remedies that promise to retain the color of dyed hair, in fact can not hold the molecules of paint in your hair. Therefore, you should not expect anything from them, except for the usual care.
Deep moisturizing
All
air conditioners, in fact, act the same way, smoothing the outer layer
of the hair, so that the scales of the cuticle lie exactly. But now many air conditioners promise a deep hydration. In fact, a conventional air conditioner will cope as well.
The main thing - evenly distribute the product through the hair, but do not forget that they can absorb only a certain amount. No matter how much conditioner you do not add on top, it does not affect the condition of the hair.
Natural conditioner
The best means for hair care, which really deeply moisturizes them, is ordinary coconut oil. This oil is just a suitable texture, which allows it to penetrate into the hair shaft and protect it from the inside. It prevents water from getting inside the hair, so it's especially good to use after washing.
How to dry hair?
Common sense tells us that it's more harmful to blow dry, because hot air damages the hair. But there is an opinion that drying hair in normal conditions spoils them, because so on the hair is exposed to moisture longer. Water gets inside the hair, it swells, the cuticle is injured. But frequent drying with a hair dryer is much more harmful.
